Wooden dice with food names from Foodie Dice.

We’ve always loved the concept behind foodie dice. We’re even more excited now that we’ve learned that all engraving, product assembly and fulfillment is performed locally here in Tempe.

The foodology dice are a creative solution for that eternal question, “What’s for dinner?” Here’s how they work. Each die represents a different meal component and has options printed on each side:

The first five dice offer options for cooking methods, protein, grains/carb, herbs and bonus ingredients. You add all five to a cup or bag along with the appropriate veggie die based on what’s in season. Then shake them up, roll the dice and find out what’s for dinner—probably tomorrow after you’ve gone shopping unless you have a very extensive pantry.

Other fun ways to use the dice are:

1. To determine the ingredients for a friendly “Iron Chef”-type competition;
2. To assign what each contributor should bring to the next potluck dinner;
3. To start a conversation by asking each person in your group to pick a die and describe their favorite dish using that ingredient; or
4. As fun table decorations.

Mixology dice are also available when you’re ready to get creative with your cocktails. Order from foodiedice.com or pick up locally at urbAna, 5027 N. 44th St., Phoenix.
